Bicentenary

In this essay I’m to going to talk about the Chilean Bicentenary, my perspective and opinion about this particular year. 2010 has been the year of Chilean bicentenary, all the people feeling more Chilean and more patriotic. This year has been a special year for our country for different reasons, first in February, 27^th the earth moving dramatically, many people dies and the rest to be left homeless. Then, assume the work of manage the country, then of twenty years of government from Concertación’s government, Sebatian Piñera. And finally thirty-three miners with his dramatic situation has converted in a rock stars.

The Chilean people in general has been characterize for a mixture of culture. Since begin of times, when our people were discovered, the Spanish people influenced in our kind of to talk, to dress, to think… And gradually we had lost our ancestral identity and customs. Today Chile is a country full of influence and different mixtures of other countries.  The Bicentenary year, in my opinion is a revelation of a big lie; our own nationality is vague and undefined yet. When the people ask themselves who is to be Chilean? Or what are making Chileans, Chileans? What is the answer? In my case I’m not sure about this, I don’t see nothing particular or singular in our country. The particular is in our ancestral customs, it has been treat violently and the majority of our people unknown about this traditions. When we have reconciliation with our ancestral culture; we discover a new and authentic country.

This year has been hard, for all of us. In this year, majority of people waited a nice year, overcoat for our bicentenaries celebrations.  The earthquakes show us the power of nature and the thirty-three miners show us the bad conditions that our hard-worked are exposed. In the second case we have demonstrated our populism and our absence of equity. Remember the hunger strike of mapuche people, this is important and fundamental, as miners too, but our own racism and not to want to have anything to do about the mapuche’s legislation. The government don’t be care with respect all of people of our country, miners, mapuche and native people or all of us.

The bicentenary year show us our lack. The new government and President Piñera want to make of Chile a country of first world, development the work and always thinking from money, but for a new and better country we need make others things, first between ourselves and then with the others; first with our real culture and then maybe we can show to the rest our own culture and characteristic.

Viviana's blog

Well, today I’m going to write about a particular blog, but I think that every blog had some special, because every person is special and we write on the blog our opinions and our tastes. But I must choose one blog, because is the work. In particular I like the Viviana’s blog, because I considerer happy and colorful. I don’t know very much to Viviana, but I had seemed when a radiant person and lovely and her blog is like her personality, I think. I like the color of the template of her blog, orange, very bright and I believe that Viviana likes cat, because her image of her profile is a white cat and I love cat too…  I like the order of blog and his brilliant color, on my blog the color are some dark and dull, because I like of this way, but always is interesting look for another tastes and comparer it. Maybe for his point I choose the Viviana’s blog, because are different types of blog and reflected different kind of act. Another point about her blogs is her responsibility, because she had written each task and this make me think about her like a responsible person.   

My favorite post by the Viviana’s blog is “Rock made it by the woman”.  First, because I like the music made for women, like Patty Smith, a singular punk woman from the 70^th, I love the song “Horses” for this singer and she is very powerful. I like Björk too, I really I love her music, I consider a great composer, a fantastic and mystical singer. In this post Viviana wrote about The Runaways and I didn’t know about them, but for this post I know them and they are really interesting.   

About to improve her blog, I think it’s fine and I don’t have any criticism. Finally when I had seen the Viviana’s blog I think in Björk, maybe for my favorite post about Rock made it by the woman…

Today I’m going to talk about the greatest Chilean of all time, I’m not sure about who is the greatest Chilean, because it depend the range but in my personal opinion I think about a Chilean poet, because I like the poetry, Nicanor Parra… Chile is a country of poets, said many people, I think it’s true. Nicanor Parra was born September, 5 in 1915. He is considered the creator of Antipoesía. He has been teacher of physics and mathematics. I considered him amazing, because he write poetry but he know about another discipline. I think Nicanor Parra has been important and is important yet, because he has created important space for the Chilean literature, for the expression of the people and he has created a new literary language, more free and daily.  I like him, because he makes a different literature and he has influenced in a Hispanic literature, but also in American literature as Beat Generation from EE.UU (principally to Allen Ginsberg).

Nicanor Parra is very attractive I think, he take daily things and he put it in his poems mixture with irony, sarcasm and humor. These three things are the most important things (in my opinion) of work of Nicanor Parra; he is an incredible creative person. Also, one of things more attractive for him are his artefact, these are a different object of daily use and Parra take it and put in some idea or phrase, always is very creative and funny. In the documental called “Retrato de un antipoeta” by Víctor Jimenez, Parra said that his poems or writings don’t make it speedily, is a slowly work, and write one and then rewrite it...

I would like to ask about his projections, what he feels about his career and about the life in general, I think that his point of view could be interesting.

Head-On (2004)

Today I’m going to write about the most recently film that I had seen, and I love it! Really! This film is called Gegen die Wand (or Head-On), this is a German-Turkish film directed for Faith Akin a Turkish man. The movie opened in 2004 and it has been prize-winning in International Festival of cinema in Berlin in 2004 and it wins the first prize in European Prize of Cinema. The starring for Head-On were Birol  Ünel (representing Cahit Tomruk in the film)  and Sibel Kekilli (as SIbel Güner). The story is about to Cahit, an alcoholic and depressive man, his wife died and he stayed without sense of his life. He decided kill himself with his car and crashing with a wall. In rehabilitation center knows to Sibel, a Turkish girl who tried suicide to slash one's wrists. She talks with Cahit and she proposes to him married, is a crazy suggest, because they don’t know and is the first time that Cahit see to Sibel. But SIbel had her reason: She wants to live a free life, have sex with many men and live away from her parents and brother. Finally Cahit accepted and they married. 

Then, Cahit falling in love of Sibel and he return to feel love…. The story isn’t finish here, but you should see it, why? Because is comic, sarcastic, different, freak and unusual film. The director takes the traditions of Turkey and the live on Germany. The story had many changes and finally surprises you. The soundtrack is amazing for the post-punk lover (like me), you can listen Sister of Mercy and The Birth day party, and Depeche Mode too, also mixture the classical music of Turkey.

Well, Head-On is one of my favorite films and you should see it, really! You don’t to regret…

Pefect job

The people in general don’t enjoy this job, because many times they don’t have a choice. People need any job and they take any opportunity that present of them. Not all the people can study some career that like them, sometimes they should study a short career and coming to work immediately, for example, when any person have a baby, he/she need money and take any job although this didn’t like it, because is a effort for baby. Many jobs are tidies and bored, they pay so badly and the people have a hard work, many times worker go to the job all week and the weekend too. This is very sadly; the people don’t have time for this family and for make other activities more interesting for them.

A less percentage of people have a good job or a job that like it. They studied some career or many they learn some trade and enjoy this job, because they had the option of choice their jobs and this is a good point; to work in a place nice with good partners, doing the thing that do you want. Although the salary maybe don’t be very much, when we make that we want do, the day is happier.

I want work in a job related with my career. I have had many jobs like selling food of dogs and other animals. Now I work in a supermarket like packager, is a temporal job and is very easy. But in the future (near future) I’ll work as researcher in the areas like Chilean republican art or Chilean colonial art. I would like to be teacher maybe or to learn to people interested about the art. This job satisfied me; because I would be exercise my career and this make me feel good and developed.

Charles Bukowski

Hello classmate!

Today I’m going to talk you about a famous person would like to meet. Well… I love the literature and I read novels or short story all the time, I like read the perspective of others people and I consider fantastic the people with the capacity of create stories. One of my favorite writers is Charles Bukowski, his real name was Heinrich Karl Bukowski he was American writer but he is born in Germany, 1920. His literature was associated mistakenly with the Beat Generation, but he was a writers of dirty realism or independent writers. His poems and novels were inspirited in his life in the city, Los Angeles, place when I stay long time. His life was really hard, his father beat him all the time, his face had many marks and this affected his self-esteem, but he always had a girlfriend, because he find the form of conquest them. For many times he work in mediocre jobs. He was alcoholic person and he always need drink wine or some beer.

I would like meet him, because I love his novels and I consider him an interesting person to talk, about his life and the kind of write his novels. Many poems or novels are very descriptive about his type of life and many types of life of other people. Charles Bukowski was a revolutionary person in the world of literature, he writer about the alcohol and women, about the daily thing that maybe we don’t stop for this, but he does it. I would like to talk with he about what think he about his success? Because, today he is more accepted and recognized for his work in literature. I ask him about what would write today, what type of things call his attention now…

I think to meet Charles Bukowski would be interesting, because he was a dissident man, singular and imperfect, very imperfect, but really clever.

A Perfect Day

Well, this is a beautiful song, I listen it many times but I didn’t know the singer and the artists that appear in the video are interesting, in particular David Bowie, he is a fantastic singer, he is an important figure in the music. The lyric of the song is peaceful; I like it, because I feel so calm and placid. Maybe I didn’t go to zoo because I don’t like the animals shut up in a cage, but I like the cinema and movies. I like parks and to go for a walk, walk for the grass and enjoy the nature. In general the idea of a perfect day for this song is nice, but my perfect day is near of the beach, I love the sea and sand or in some place with threes and glass near of river or lake, I like the nature and specially the water, because Santiago is a place so gray and oppressive. A day away of Santiago is a refreshing day. I spend my perfect day with my family; they are a fantastic people, very nice people. They love the nature too, and they like to go a walk or stay in a forest. They like camping and enjoy the animals and threes. We can go to the beach and walk for shore. Then we can eat in some place looking the sea… Or maybe spend our perfect day camping in a forest near of the river and swim into the water or to go a walk at dusk with them. 

But every day can be a perfect day, is not necessary go out the city or some nature place. Each day can be perfect day, this only depend of our disposition.    

Camila Moreno

I like many type of music, but always is rock or sounds more powerful, I like the electric guitar, bass and drums. For many years I only listen gothic music and symphonic metal, but the time past and today I appreciate different artist, bands and songs. Today I listen Chilean music too, this is new for me, a few days ago my little sister (16 years ago) created a archive with music in my netbook and I coming to listen all the songs, some of them were reggaeton and a disgusted totally, but she had others songs like Soda Stereo or Los Tres. But I found a song of Camila Moreno a Chilean artist, she is 23 years ago and I coming to compose music to 17 years ago, she is a folklorist and her song has an important social and poetic contain.

The song Millones is my favorite song of her and the song talk about the injustice, monopoly and the abuse of power over people. Millones talk about the manipulation of many people through the pharmaceutical industry and in general the people can’t make anything about that, because we stay into the machine and is very difficult to swim opposed to it. Camila Moreno and this song try chance our mentality and don’t permit the injustice and abuse. She doesn’t have fear to talk about her song her feeling and her thought. The chorus of Millones said: “Quieren millones de almas en su cuenta, millones de represas en la tierra”, it is very clear and her song is a social denunciation.

This song is special for me, because the lyric of her is powerful, I felt struck for the strong social contain.

France

Well, I love to travel, I like very much… Always I try to travel, because it’s a good way for relaxing and to be revitalized. I like my country; Chile has beautiful places especially in the south of our country in my opinion.  Also I like knows other countries; for our career the historical places and artistic places are suggestive. I hope to know Europe, specifically France. I love the France language, is very nice and the France culture is an important influence for our country.

About France know fine art and literature. They have been important painters and sculptures fundamentals for the history of arts and the cultural live are more different than Chile. It’s one of the most visited places around the world, because they development is very significant is much aspect: economy, technology and culture. The people have economic stability and they can enjoy their live with calm. I would to visit all the historical places and the touristic places like Tour Eiffel and Arc de Triomphe, impressive architectures of this country. I would like to visit Louvre Museum; it was considered one of the most important museums of the world. Louvre museum has an important collection of fine arts, archaeology and decorative arts.

I want, someday to travel to France and study in this place, because the most important pieces of art stay there. Is different to see a photo from internet or in a book of any piece of art that go there and to see the real picture, because we work with the image and the details are fundamentals. I’m not sure if I would like stay there, because I like Chile and I love my family, but I want to travel and know it.

The native people are a delicate topic. Not only for the actual situation, this always has been delicate I think. The native people has been to consign to oblivion and discriminated for our own people. The people deny all the time our native’s blood and traditions and the government never have been responsible about the native people. The law and the legislation are not beneficial for them and for this mapuche’s people have taken extreme ways like a hunger strike, because is the only way for their rights and for their demands has been listening. The injustice over mapuche’s people and native people in general in our country it’s started since the conquest and this mentality has been the same for two hundred. Today antiterrorist law only attack the Mapuche and they only reclaim their ancestral lands and for political prisoners. Chile has created an imaginary nation when all the people want to be other person, always the government and the country wait to be as other country more development and “civilized” and they don’t want see our origins and our traditions.

I think these people represent the feeling of all the natives people of our country, because all of them stay in the same situation and the effort for give some solution for them is still invalid. The government is so slow about the law and rights of natives people. Mr. Piñera has been negligent and the people can’t wait, because they stay in an extreme situation (hunger strike) and he should be more promise with this people.

The demands of the natives people are fair, they deserve much of the country and the government has forgotten this. The antiterrorist law is unnecessary, because if the government legislates favorably, they don’t fight violently more and we can to live together and appreciating our culture.

Hello Classmate!

Today I’m going to talk about our country, Chile. This topic is a bit repetitive, but a propose rethinking about our traditions and customs. I ask myself all the time: how much I know about my country? In general, from we were child, teachers tell us about the Spain conquistador. People tell us about our history since the conquest, but all forget that: Chile was born after the conquest. The indigenous people were the early Chilean people and the original conquests. I think that Chile born with this people and many people don’t recognize it.

Today it’s coming the Bicentenary month and we are exciting for our two hundreds, but only we are thinking about the progress and our development as country. We want to be a country of first world, but we forget the poverty, our worker and our indigenous people… we forget many things important for increase our country and our culture.  

I think that the injustice and difference of social classes are topic important for the development of our country.  Worked class work hard, earn a misery weld, then other people with more opportunities earn more money, they have a good health, the have more power and influence over other people. When the government can to improve the live quality of all the Chileans, this it will a first and fundamental step for a country that want to be of first world.

Maybe Chile never arrives to be something like this… because this change is a responsibility of all.  All the Chileans should be fight and change our mentality about a lot of things.

News

The most important new for this year, in my opinion, was the earthquake of February, 27. The earthquake removed the earth and also our mind. The earthquake was a catastrophic experience for the country and all the people since north to south of Chile felt the desperation, because many people have some relation with someone in the affected zone. Nobody could be indifferent about the earthquake and for many weeks this new was a most important issue for the media. Day and night the journalists were informing about the advances for the fallen building and the disappear people. Through twitter, facebook and other social network people use it for communicate and search the disappear people.

The issue was dramatic. But the media overdramatized more still. The power of media is incredible; the people follow them and believe them, but they didn’t think that maybe the media can manipulate the information and only they can show one part of the complete information. I have seen the News and I have read the paper, but also I think the media don’t say the entire true about certain thing, especially politics things. And this issue is a global condition, because not only in our country we don’t know all the information. In other countries the corruption is serious. For example, the people with more power and money can make to shut up any media. Maybe isn’t convenient that we know the entire true and is easier keep us drowsy, because this way they can manipulate us.

Radiohead in Chile

Hello everybody!

Today I’ll write about a great experience, it’s Radiohead Concert. In November, 2008 I stayed in the University when a partner talks me about the Radiohead in Chile; it was really incredible because I never thought something like that… I decided got to the concert because I think is a great band and I like very much your music. I’m really excited. The concert was March, 27th in 2009 in Pista Atlética del Estadio Nacional. I'm going to some friends and us want a lot of time for to come in the place. Many people stay here one day after! They sleeping out the Estadio Nacional waiting the Concert and they wish have the first place for this. Many people bought the most expensive ticket waiting stay near of the group. I bought a cheaper ticket, but even so it was some expensive. When we could to come in the Estadio Nacional we run fast for stay near the stage. Finally my friends and me choose for stayed in a stands and we saw the Concert very far away, anyway it was unforgettable.

The support band of Radiohead was Kraftwerk, a Germany group of electronic music, I like this group too, but in general the people were coming to scream some stupid thing because they want very eagerly the principal group. But I think Kraftwerk is an interesting band very important for develop of electronic music. Twenty minutes before, Radiohead its coming to play, I scream and sing, I really like and enjoying this concert. Visually it was fascinated; the light effects were very attractive and Thom Yorke is a great singer…

This concert was really amazing!

Opportunities

Our country is a place where opportunities in general are limited.  Sometimes a lot of people has been to work in a different places where don’t like, they are this only for survived. I think that: in general Chile isn’t a place with opportunities, in many aspects as education, work or health. Some people have more opportunities in our country, they are a select sector of Chile and they have an important factor for them: the money.  Gender and opportunities in Chile is other aspect about that. When we talk to about the gender we make a distinction between men and women. I think make this distinction at the work or anything aspect is discrimination. Historically the woman has been “weak sex” and the man has been the supplier and the hard-working. Today the woman goes to work too and we make many other things. But the opportunities between man and woman are still unjust. For example in any work the man are more possibilities to stay in the place that a woman, overcoat the woman has find a fertile age. The male chauvinism still exists in our country and for this many women hasn’t opportunities for to develop.  Although people think about the feminist and feminist freedom for these days, the equality of opportunities is still a dream. Is true, we have advance in this topic, but we still don’t are really equitable.

In conclusion, the opportunities in our country is far to be egalitarian and not only for woman and men for homosexual people too.
